Songcheng village in Yinchuan marked the seventh Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival on Sept 22 with a celebration of agricultural achievements.

A series of activities were held during the village which is in Wanghong town, Yongning county,, including a farmers' sports event, an agricultural products expo, food tasting, cultural exchanges and interactive photo opportunities. Farmers enjoyed competitions like tug-of-war and corn relays, with prizes of livestock, seafood and fruit attracting many participants.

The food tasting showcased high-quality local seafood, such as rice field crabs and prawns from Wanghong town, a key aquaculture area in Yongning, alongside signature farmhouse dishes and organic vegetables from other towns. Live cooking demonstrations drew many residents, while the festival also featured an area for agricultural products, including seasonal fruits and Yongning shrimps. Participants enjoyed tasting food and engaging in greenhouse harvesting, experiencing the hard work and joy of farming.

The event also featured a harvest-themed art exhibition to enrich the cultural life of farmers, while agricultural expert consultations, free medical services, scientific assistance, financial support and equipment trade-ins were combined to address challenges facing farmers and promoted sustainable green agricultural production.

As of 2024, agricultural development in Yongning county shows trends of diversification and modernization. With advances in technology and supportive policies, both the efficiency and quality of agricultural production have significantly improved. 

The agricultural industry structure is continuously optimized, with specialty agriculture and ecological agriculture becoming new growth points. The rapid development of facility agriculture, agritourism, and the processing of agricultural products has provided strong support for increasing farmers' incomes and promoting rural revitalization.
