Hundreds of participants have hiked for hours through Ningxia Hui autonomous region to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. 

The Retracing the Long March: Crossing Liupan Mountain event drew more than 1,500 hikers from across China to Guyuan city on Monday. They gathered at the foot of Liupan Mountain in Zhangyi town, Yuanzhou district, and covered 17 kilometers during their five-hour journey. 

The hikers followed the winding mountain roads through the scenic Lotus Flower Valley, climbing all the way to the Qingshizui Battle Monument in Kaicheng town.
