Hasan Mandal, president of Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in Turkiye, visited Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) on Dec 1.

BIT Vice-President Wei Yiming warmly welcomed Hasan Mandal.
He emphasized that both universities share many similarities in terms of academic background and development paths in scientific research and innovation; and the two have pioneered numerous "firsts" in the history of technological development in their respective countries and have cultivated a large number of outstanding talents for national development. Looking ahead, Wei expressed his hope that the two universities can establish a comprehensive strategic collaboration mechanism and build a high-level cooperation platform.

Hasan Mandal expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm reception at BIT and shared the achievements of ITU in academic development, talent cultivation, and international cooperation. He emphasized his university's strong commitment to collaborating with Chinese institutions and expanding partnerships in materials science and chemical engineering. Mandal hoped his visit would serve as a catalyst for new breakthroughs in research collaboration, faculty exchanges, and student interactions between the two universities.
During their meeting, representatives from both sides discussed research collaboration and faculty and student exchanges in materials science, energy policy, and carbon capture and utilization.
