BIT Professors elected as IEEE Fellow for 2026

Recently, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world's largest nonprofit professional technical society, announced its list of IEEE Fellows for 2026. Professor Deng Fang and Professor Liu Chi from the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) have been elected as IEEE Fellows for 2026.

IEEE is dedicated to the development and research in electrical, electronics, computer, communication, and automation engineering, as well as related sciences. It boasts over 460,000 members in more than 190 countries and comprises 39 technical societies. The organization publishes over 210 international journals and sponsors more than 2,000 international conferences and events.

The IEEE Fellow is the highest honor awarded by the organization and is recognized as a prestigious accolade and significant career achievement in the academic and scientific community. It is awarded annually to members who have made outstanding contributions, and are selected by peer experts through a rigorous process. The number of new Fellows selected each year is less than 0.1 percent of the total membership. Due to the exclusivity, those chosen are typically distinguished scientists with significant achievements in science and engineering technology.
