Shandong Port Group (SPG) launched a signing ceremony for its North China consumer goods (Qingdao) distribution center at Jimo Land Port in Qingdao, East China's Shandong province, on July 26.

Xue Qingguo, vice-mayor of Qingdao, Huo Gaoyuan, Party secretary and chairman of the board of SPG, and other officials from both Qingdao municipal government and the port group attended the event.

Qingdao was one of the first national logistics hubs. The city’s Jimo district boasts significant traffic location advantages, and is an important production and distribution center and means of livelihood in Qingdao.

The Jihuang (Jimo Land Port-Huangdao Port) freight train officially opened Oct 16, 2017. At present, the expected target of running 10 freight trains a week has been achieved. To date, 124,000 TEUs (20-foot equivalent unit) have been handled, of which 51,800 TEUs were completed in 2019, with year-on-year growth of 32.5 percent.

At the same time, the warehousing business functions are being improved. On April 26, the group was approved to become a bonded warehouse covering 6,000 square meters and able to handle high-value-added bonded goods in the future.

Li Fengli, deputy Party secretary and general manager of SPG, said that SPG would work to open up logistics channels for the import of means of livelihood, and try its best to promote the gathering in Jimo of bonded warehousing, distribution, cold-fresh sales, e-commerce services and other functions involving consumer goods.
