The handling of freight on container ship Maersk operated by the 2M shipping alliance – consisting of partners Maersk Line, MSC and Hyundai Merchant Marin -- yielded vessel productivity of 340.1 moves per hour in Qingdao Port in East China's Shandong province on Feb 20, achieving a new record for the European route, according to local media.

The 399 meter-long Maersk moored on the morning of Feb 20 at QQCT Phase III at Berth 79 in Qingdao Port -- operated by major Chinese port operator Shandong Port Group, also known as SPG for short.

The QQCT operation team worked with the Maersk Pre-allocation Center and Maersk Far East Liner Center to optimize and modify the freight handling plan for the configuration of the bridge crane operations for docking, loading and unloading and completed the task in just 10 hours.

On Nov 19 last year QQCT set two new global records for the European route of 2M with vessel productivity of 333.7 moves per hour and berth efficiency of 309.9 moves per hour.

As of 19:00 hrs on Feb 19, QQCT had completed a total of 23 times of ship unloading of pulp with pulp throughput 330,000 tons in February, achieving a year-on-year increase of 77 percent for the same period.
