The Second Council (Expanded) Meeting of the First Session of the National Logistics Hub Alliance was held on March 25 in Qingdao city in East China's Shandong province, with the goal set by Qingdao-based Shandong Port Group or SPG – one of the world's biggest port operators – to become a national logistics hub on the agenda.

Among those attending and giving speeches were Zhang Jiangbo, deputy director-general of the Economic and Trade Department of the National Development and Reform Commission; Huo Gaoyuan, Party secretary and chairman of the board of SPG and Li Fengli, deputy Party secretary and general manager of SPG.

Zhang said that the establishment of SPG as a national logistics hub would play an important role in China's new development pattern and the company would as a result shoulder greater responsibilities and missions.

Huo, as president of the National Logistics Hub Alliance, put forward several proposals in his speech to promote the efficient operation of the national logistics hub network and ensure its high-quality development.

Meanwhile SPG's Li elaborated on the development ideas of SPG – examining the practices of the new development pattern, the support points for the hub economy, the pilot zone for port-industry-city integration, as well as a new platform for transforming the logistics industry and sources for the supply chain network.
