Shandong Port Group (SPG), the world's largest port conglomerate in terms of cargo capacity, opened a new shipping route to the Mediterranean Sea region on April 14. The new route will provide point-to-point express services for inland enterprises to export their products, and help SPG build itself into an international shipping hub in the Northeast Asian region.

In recent years, SPG has been committed to promoting high-quality development, and seized great opportunities brought by the RCEP and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to elevate the group's development to a higher level. Efforts have also been made to optimize its shipping routes, and enable the smooth operation of international logistics corridors, which have helped stabilize Shandong's foreign trade and investment, and boost consumption.

The new shipping route is operated by Zim International Shipping Company, and will provide point-to-point express services for inland enterprises to export products such as electronic products, mechanical equipment, and garments and textiles.

The opening of the new route will help SPG set up a complete ocean route network, and enhance SPG's role in the high-quality development of the BRI.
