Shandong Digital Port Company (SDPC) began operations in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province on May 20, and is expected to speed up the province's pace in the reform and development of its digital ports.

Local authorities said that the launch of the company will optimize the business environment at ports in Shandong, facilitate its cross-border trade, and promote reform and opening-up in Shandong.

SDPC was jointly built by the Shandong Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Shandong Energy Group, Shandong Port Group (SPG), and other three large-scale enterprises.

As one of the five shareholders of SDPC, SPG has leveraged its unique advantages in port development, and made great efforts in the construction of the "single-window system". Efforts have also been made to promote the application of advanced technologies including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, internet of things, big data, mobile internet, and blockchain, in order to accelerate its pace in the construction of digital ports.

Li Fengli, general manager of SPG, addressed all in attendance at the launching ceremony that the group will make its contributions to the healthy development of SDPC. The group will also promote the construction of digital platforms as a means to provide digital support for the construction of the "single-window system".

Li added that SPG will cooperate with the other shareholders of SDPC, and promote the high-quality development of the company, in order to better serve major national development strategies, and shoulder its responsibilities in helping transform Shandong into a powerful maritime province.
