New berths at Dongjiakou port, Qingdao, recently started operations. They are expected to add an additional 6.5 million deadweight tons (DWT) in annual capacity at Qingdao Port and give full play to the port's advantages in promoting regional economic development.

The new berths are located along the eastern coastline of Dongjiakou port. One berth is for 50,000-DWT vessels and the other is for 100,000-DWT vessels, occupying a total of 545.5 meters of coastline. The new berths are able to handle cargoes like frozen fish and bulk commodities, which will effectively alleviate the current storage pressure, thus assisting Dongjiakou port to better expand its domestic and foreign shipping routes and to accelerate the port's pace of becoming the 10-million-ton distribution center for coke in North China.
