The 2021 Qingdao Annual Economic Achievement Award Ceremony was held on June 25, and Shandong Port Group (SPG), which is currently the world's largest port conglomerate in terms of cargo capacity, received a number of honorable titles.

SPG's Qingdao Port won multiple awards at the award ceremony. It was awarded the Most Influential Enterprise in Qingdao in 2021, and ranked third among the top 100 companies in Qingdao in 2021 for its net profit. Qingdao Port also ranked ninth among the top 100 comprehensive enterprises in Qingdao, and 11th among the top 50 service enterprises in Qingdao for its revenue. Li Fengli, general manager of SPG, won the title of the 2021 Qingdao Economic Person of the Year.

Qingdao was born from the sea and has prospered from its port. As the only provincial State-owned backbone enterprise headquartered in Qingdao, SPG has attached great importance to the high-quality development of Qingdao Port, and the integrated development of the city and the port.

Li said in his speech during the ceremony that ports are basic and pivotal facilities, an important support for economic development, and an important strategic resource and comparative advantage for the development of a city. In 2021, the cargo throughput of SPG exceeded 1.5 billion metric tons, and the container throughput surpassed 34 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), and Qingdao Port ranked fourth in the world in terms of cargo throughput, and sixth globally in terms of container throughput.

Li added that in the future, SPG will be committed to the integration of the city and Qingdao Port, and actively serve and integrate into the new development pattern of "dual circulation", as well as integrate into the major development strategies of the country, aiming to spur the group's high-quality development.
