A delegation headed by Huo Gaoyuan, chairman of Shandong Port Group (SPG), visited Thailand from Feb 12 to 13, and had a formal discussion with leaders from the National Port Authority of Thailand, Ngow Hock Group and the Chinese Embassy in Thailand.

During the dialogue, Klin Kay, director of the National Port Authority of Thailand, introduced the development of the institute and its relevant ports. He said that the institute has been devoted to linking the logistics network with the world, building a multimodal transport hub, and accelerating the construction of a world-class port with cargo access to the world.

Huo also expressed that since the establishment of SPG, it has built an integrated and coordinated development pattern, formed a good business environment, and its affiliated ports have achieved steady growth.

The two sides hope to strengthen communication and cooperation in the fields of smart green ports, inland port construction and personnel training and exchanges, and carry out practical cooperation to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results.

During the visit to Ngow Hock Group, the two parties discussed the cooperation opportunities in shipping logistics and sea-railway combined transportation. Both parties gave full play to their respective advantages and aim to become supply-chain service providers for each other.

Wang Liping, economic and commercial minister counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, introduced the economic development of Thailand and the economic and trade exchanges between the two countries, as well as the policies for the development of relevant industries in Thailand.

He said that SPG is the first enterprise delegation to visit the embassy after the COVID-19 pandemic. It is expected that both sides will strengthen exchanges and cooperation in port, logistics and two-way supply chain channel construction, and especially in cassava processing, warehousing and other fields to promote the new development of China-Thailand economic and trade exchanges with practical actions.
