The Qingdao Port Fully Automated Container Terminal of Shandong Port Group (SPG) received two automated rail-mounted gantry cranes (RMGs) on Sept 3, bringing the total number of phase III's RMG to 19.

The arrival of these RMGs will aid the operations of the third phase of the automated container terminal.

The third phase project will involve the installation of 19 RMGs and two quay cranes and the building of two berths.

Since construction of the project started in 2019, Qingdao Port has set up 10 teams to speed up research on core technologies for port equipment and made breakthroughs in several technologies, including China's first electric control system for port automation.
