A group of overseas students joined some kindergarten children in celebrating Dragon Boat Festival in Changxing county, Zhejiang province, on May 26, four days before the traditional day of the festival.

In a forest of ginkgo trees, children and the international visitors sat around a table to watch an elderly local woman do handiwork on tiger-head shoes and hats, which are said to be able to help children avoid evil. The participants also tried this folk art themselves.

Making zongzi, a traditional Dragon Boat snack with various kinds of fillings wrapped in reed leaves, was a key part of the day's activity.

These overseas students also learned to sing traditional folk songs from the local people to welcome in the exotic festival.
