Huzhou gains steams in industrial transformation

Zhejiang Tony Electronic Co Ltd, a company based in Huzhou's Wuxing district, reported a yearly uptick of 22 percent in output value from January to May. 

The management of Tony Electronic, which specializes in the research, manufacturing and marketing of ultra-fine alloy wire and other metal matrix composites, predicts that the company's monthly profits will exceed 25 million yuan ($3.62 million) in the second half of this year.

The company's rapid development reflects the strength of Huzhou's industrial sectors. The city has made great efforts to promote industrial transformation and upgrading. 

From January to May, the added value of the city's strategic emerging industries and equipment manufacturing grew by 7.6 percent and 6.8 percent, respectively, 2.3 and 6.6 percentage points faster than the provincial average.

Huzhou has already established a number of platforms for R&D and business incubation so as to accelerate technological breakthrough in key sectors.

In the first five months of this year, the city's investment in industrial technological upgrading soared 25.4 percent year-on-year.

Digitalization is a major driving force behind the city's success. Relying on a 5G-based industrial Internet platform, Zhejiang GIMIG Technology Co Ltd, based in the city's Nanxun district, has seen a jump of 120 percent in production efficiency after the entire manufacturing process went digital.
