The Zhejiang provincial government held a press conference on July 17 to introduce the overall Construction Plan of the Zhejiang Ecological Coastal Zone, which was officially issued in late June.

Adjacent to Hangzhou Bay and the East China Sea, Zhejiang province boasts the longest coastline and the most abundant marine resources in China. It began formulating the Zhejiang Greater Bay Area construction plan to develop the ecological coastal area early in 2018.

The plan was issued by the provincial government, and consists of the four parts of general requirements, construction tasks, demonstration and guidance, and safeguard measures.

It aims to complete ecological construction and environmental restoration by 2025, and to build a comprehensive coastal zone of green ecology, communication, history and culture, leisure tourism, and economic depth by 2035.

It focuses on protecting coastal forests and estuarine ecosystems such as the Qiantang and Cao'e rivers. Wetland Parks will be constructed at a high level. Green networks made up of expressways, walking paths and bicycle lanes, and site connection networks will also be built for the public.

Cultural, tourist and economic projects such as museums and archaeological site parks, tourist resorts and international competitions, and green agriculture will be implemented as well.

Four regions with a length of about 40 kilometers will be set as example areas in the cities of Haining, Hangzhou, Ningbo and Wenzhou, respectively representing coastal countryside, an urban area, wetlands and mountains.
