East China's Zhejiang province scored 90.64 points in a recent survey of residents' satisfaction with the province's rule of law, 2.64 points higher than last year.

The random survey was carried out on 26,900 citizens in the province's 90 counties, county-level cities, and urban districts, asking them to rate the province's performance in law-based governance, the justice system, the legal system, and democracy at the local level.

Zhejiang residents were most satisfied with what the government has achieved in environmental protection, giving an average score of 92.46 points in this regard. The second highest average score (92.4 points) was given for the province's efforts to optimize its law-based business environment.

Zhejiang has dealt with more than 50,000 legal cases involving illicit behavior in environment protection since 2016, making one of the strictest Chinese provinces when it comes to protecting the environment.
