Zhejiang steps up efforts in developing nighttime economy

(ezhejiang.gov.cn) Updated : 2020-08-17

East China's Zhejiang province will strive to establish around five national-level and 20 provincial-level nighttime shopping clusters for culture and tourism consumption over the next three years, according to a recent conference held by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism in Wenzhou.

Zhejiang will develop a number of nighttime shopping clusters that have strong spin-off effects on the local economy. It will also create a series of popular nighttime tourism and performance programs, optimize a number of nighttime tourist attractions, as well as build a number of high-profile business pedestrian streets that boast unique cultural characteristics.

Hangzhou and Ningbo, the two Zhejiang cities that have already been designated by the central government as pilot cities for culture consumption, will strive to become demonstration cities for both cultural and tourism consumption, setting good examples for other Zhejiang cities.

To create a pleasant nighttime shopping experience for consumers, Zhejiang will also raise the government's administrative efficiency in supervising the operation of nighttime business sites, accelerate the construction of roads towards scenic areas, as well as improve public toilets, directional signs, and other facilities in nighttime business sites.
