Party chief meets with outstanding teachers

Yuan Jiajun, Party secretary of Zhejiang province, and Zheng Shanjie, acting governor of Zhejiang province, met with some of the province's outstanding teachers at the Zhejiang People's Hall in Hangzhou on Sept 9, ahead of China's Teachers' Day, which falls on Sept 10.

Yuan congratulated these 30 outstanding teachers, who were honored on behalf of the province's over 660,000 teachers. He also acknowledged the efforts of all teachers and workers in education circles throughout the province.

The 30 teachers included top experts who have become academicians at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, ordinary teachers who work at local schools, and volunteer teachers who are devoted to improving education in remote regions. Yuan said that all of them had demonstrated high moral standards, excellent teaching skills, and selfless character.

He expressed his hope that the province's teachers would shape the character of students and enhance the social climate. He also expressed hope that the province's teachers would improve their teaching methods to foster more talent and creativity among their students.

Yuan has called on Party committees and government organizations at all levels across the province to prioritize the development of education, improve the overall quality of teachers, and enhance welfare for teachers so that the province's education sector will continue to lead the country.
