Lishui celebrates Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival

Lishui – located in East China's Zhejiang province -- celebrated its third Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival, which fell this year on Sept 22, with a series of rural activities held around the city recently, according to local officials.

In Pingnan town in Longquan, a county-level city administered by Lishui, a number of lively activities on Sept 19 attracted a large number of tourists to come and experience rural culture, taste the special food, appreciate the local customs and share in the joy of the harvest.

In Lishui's Liandu district, a special photography exhibition -- showcasing the changes that have taken place in the 20 years since Lishui became a prefecture-level city -- was held there during the farmers' harvest festival on Sept 22. Local officials said its rural areas, agriculture and farmers have witnessed great change in the two decades.

And in Yunhe county, pears became the focus of attention on Sept 20. That's when local pear farmers brought their biggest and very best pears to participate in the annual competition for selecting the "king of pears". This year's winner weighed in at a hefty 2.4 kilograms.
