Huzhou's Wuxing district recently announced that it will build itself into a national demonstration area for the "intelligent connection of all things".

In recent years, the digital economy has been picking up steam in Wuxing. Official data show that from January to August, the output value of manufacturing enterprises in the region in the core industry of the digital economy reached 6.261 billion yuan ($907.39 million), up 30.5 percent year-on-year.

The district has also made progress in the construction of new-type infrastructure for things like 5G, industrial internet platforms, and big data centers.

More than 1,300 5G base stations have been built across the district, offering coverage to more than 70 percent of its total area.

The district has also established an internet of things (IoT) data center, three cloud data centers, and eight provincial-level industrial internet demonstration platforms.

With the help of industrial internet platforms, Zhejiang Sany Equipment Co Ltd, a crawl crane producer, is now able to provide after-sales services completely online, making its products more competitive on the market.

The company's output in the first eight months of this year has already exceeded last year's total output. "Digitalization allows us to expand sales channels in global markets," said a manager at the company.

Local authorities have rolled out a number of policies to incentivize enterprises to pursue digital transformation.

To date, a total of 13 enterprises from Wuxing have passsed the information technology and industrialization integration certification by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, more than in any other part of Huzhou.
