Shaoxing in East China's Zhejiang province will team up with Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province, to promote culture and tourism exchange, according to a cooperation agreement signed on Oct 10.

The two cities will develop programs to market culture and tourism resources, regulate and supervise the tourism market, and create new space for industries, as well as formulate a cooperation mechanism that benefits both sides.

The signing of the agreement was one of the major events of Chengdu-Shaoxing Week, an exhibition which opened in Chengdu on Oct 9 and will last until the 13th.

During the exhibition, a series of activities will be held to further promote talent cultivation, cultural exchange and scientific and technological cooperation with Chengdu.

The exhibition hall, featuring the tagline "Meeting Shaoxing", is divided into six sections – fashion, yellow wine, health, future technology, intangible cultural heritage, and food, showcasing Shaoxing's 2,500 years of history and culture.

According to officials, the exhibition attracted more than 500 exhibitors from Shaoxing looking to cooperate with enterprises in Chengdu.

Delegation from Shaoxing conducted live-streaming sales to show the city's culture and tourism resources, while travel agencies agreed to cooperate with their Chengdu counterparts.

"We hope these efforts will attract more people from Chengdu and Sichuan to the city of Shaoxing," said He Junjie, director of the municipal bureau of culture, broadcast, and tourism.
