Conference seeks tourism integration in YRD

A conference exploring the integrated development of tourism in the Yangtze River Delta was held in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province on Oct 15.

The conference was attended by a number of government officials and representatives from travel associations in the delta region, which encompasses provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, as well as Shanghai municipality. 

Ma Xiaohui, secretary of the CPC Huzhou Municipal Committee, said that Huzhou has a history of more than 2,300 years and that its profound culture will help it pursue the integrated development of culture and tourism in the upcoming years.

Huzhou is currently striving to build itself into an internationally renowned tourism destination, he said, expressing hope that the conference would help advance cooperation with cities throughout the delta in cultural and tourism integrated development.

Echoing Ma, Chu Ziyu, head of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, called on travel associations throughout the region to unleash the development vitality of the delta and work to further integrate it.

The conference also witnessed the signing of a framework agreement to promote cultural and tourism integration throughout the delta.

In addition, Yucun village in Anji county, Huzhou was honored as the 2020 Red Tourism Demonstration Site of the Yangtze River Delta. The city's Southern Taihu Lake New District was also recognized for its outstanding contributions to the integrated development of the delta.
