The Jiaxing session of the 2020 Zhejiang Taiwan Week of Cooperation was held in Haining, a county-level city in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province on Nov 3, local media reported.

Zhang Bing, Party secretary of Jiaxing, expressed his appreciation of Taiwan people's support in Jiaxing's development.

He said that Jiaxing has become one of the main gathering places of Taiwan businessmen in Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region.

Since the first Taiwan-funded company started operating in Jiaxing in 1987, the city has become home to 1,839 Taiwan-funded companies, including Minth and Lacouer Craft, with a total investment of $21.77 billion, according to Zhang.

He welcomed more Taiwan people to invest in Jiaxing so as to make the city a shining example of successful cross-Straits cooperation.

"We have been increasing investment in Jiaxing since we started operating in the city in 2004," said Ch'in Jung-hua, chairman of the board of Minth, noting that he believes Jiaxing will have bright prospects in YRD integration.

The business environment of Jiaxing has improved significantly and the government has also strongly supported the development of companies, according to Pa Ta-wen, executive director of Alliance New Rural Area.

In recent years, the Jiaxing government has promoted the implementation of policies that benefit Taiwan people, especially amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

In the first three quarters of this year, the actual use of Taiwan capital was $715 million, ranking first in Zhejiang.

At present, there are more than 2,300 permanent Jiaxing residents from Taiwan.
