Zhejiang adds 10 models for 'Big Garden' project

(ezhejiang.gov.cn) Updated : 2020-11-19

The Zhejiang provincial government recently released a list of 10 counties (county-level cities) and districts which have passed inspection and been tasked with piloting the province's "Big Garden" project.

Zhejiang authorities previously released two such lists encompassing a total of 20 pilot counties (county-level cities) and districts, meaning Zhejiang has now achieved its goal of authorizing 30 counties (county-level cities) and districts for the "Big Garden" project by the end of 2020, which it set in the provincial government work report earlier this year.

Inspired by the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission initiated the "Big Garden" project in 2019, aiming to transform the province into a "Big Garden" promoting green development in the country.

The project focuses on five areas: environmental protection, all-for-one tourism, environmentally-friendly industries, infrastructure, and creating an ideal green development model.

Half of the 30 pilot counties (county-level cities) and districts are administered by the cities of Quzhou and Lishui in the mountainous southwestern region of Zhejiang.
