As China aims to eliminate extreme poverty and become a "moderately prosperous society" (xiaokang shehui) in time for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China next year, Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province has been dedicated to improving the lives of locals.

Quzhou was honored as the "2020 special contributor to the overall prosperity of China" at the 15th China Comprehensive Well-off forum held in Zhongshan, Guangdong province.

One of the innovative decisions made by Kecheng district was listed among the top 10 best livelihood decisions in China in 2020 and Qujiang district was listed among the top 100 demonstration counties and cities in terms of business environment in 2020.

Quzhou, a core "big-garden" city in Zhejiang, strongly adheres to the concept of green development while seeking to improve quality of life for its residents.

Located in western Zhejiang province in the upper reaches of the Qiantang River, Quzhou has long served as a thoroughfare between the provinces of Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, and Anhui.

The city has made strong achievements in economic and social development over the past five years and has achieved the major goals it set for the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20).
