Zhejiang authorities recently published a plan to make 60 "shining pearls" out of the province's 130 key tourist attractions by 2022.

According to the plan, the province's tourism sector is set to create 580 billion yuan ($89.84 billion) in value added and will strive to receive 860 million annual visits, including 5 million visits by foreign travellers, by 2022.

Many of the "shining pearls" are expected to become tourist destinations with international influence by 2035.

According to the plan, the "shining pearls" are supposed to be located all over the province in spotty, linear, and planar patterns.

The spotty-pattern "shining pearls" are ancient towns and villages, well-known scenic areas, mountain resorts, island resorts, archaeological relic sites, as well as holiday resorts.

The linear-pattern "shining pearls" are rivers and lakes of cultural significance, as well as ancient pathways in forests.

The planar-pattern "shining pearls" are demonstration counties for the province's "big garden" projects and the poetry-themed cultural belt in east Zhejiang.
