Quzhou city's GDP climbs 3.5% in 2020

The city of Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province posted a gross domestic product of 163.9 billion yuan ($25.3 billion) in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 3.5 percent, according to local media reports on Jan 28.

Positive path for industrial growth

The value added of the primary industry in 2020 reached 9.23 billion yuan, steady with that of 2019. Elsewhere, the value added of the secondary industry came in at about 65.95 billion, a 3 percent increase, while the value added of the tertiary industry totaled 88.74 billion, up 4.2 percent year-on-year.

Improving position by the quarter

The GDP changes in the four quarters of 2020 against the same periods the previous year were -6.7 percent, -0.4 percent, 2 percent and 3.5 percent respectively -- representing a successive turnaround  by the quarter.

Positive boost given to economy

In terms of the contribution of the major industries – apart from hospitality and catering, hit by the novel coronavirus epidemic that have yet to turn positive – all the other sectors gave a positive boost to the economy. Overall industrial growth increased from 70 percent in the first three quarters to 90 percent in the fourth quarter, compared with the previous year.
