East China's Zhejiang province saw a total of 8.8763 million visits to its 251 tourism spots at or above the national 4A level during this year's Spring Festival holiday, which ran from Feb 11 to 17, according to local media reports.

The number was 82.33 percent of the corresponding figure during the Spring Festival holiday in 2019.

The province's top five travel destinations during the holiday were West Lake Scenic Area in Hangzhou (1.5598 million visits), Wuzhen Scenic Area in Jiaxing (355,600 visits), Shenjiamen Fishing Port Scenic Area in Zhoushan (304,900 visits), Putuo Mountain in Zhoushan (293,400 visits), and Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing (238,200 visits).

Different from previous years, the majority of holiday tourists were local residents rather than inbound visitors. In addition, many of these visitors made short-duration, short-distance, and slower-paced trips.

As required by local authorities, tourist attractions and cultural sites across the province adopted strict epidemic-prevention measures, including imposing a visitor quota of no more than 75 percent of their maximum capacity, as well as checks of visitors' health QR codes and temperatures at the entrances.
