Recently, the Zhejiang Water Resources Department and the Finance Department of Zhejiang province announced the list of the 2021 Pilot Counties for Happy Rivers and Lakes program.

The Kecheng district of the prefecture-level city of Quzhou – located in China's East Zhejiang province – made the list, according to local media reports on April 20.

The Happy Rivers and Lakes program – an upgraded version of the previous Beautiful Rivers and Lakes environmental program – is set to chase new goals.

These relate to the advantages of river and lakes environmental security, ecological harmony, healthy landscapes, green development and a high quality of living for locals.

The new program will reportedly last two years and the pilot counties will receive a subsidiary to help them in their work to create a beautiful and pristine environment.
