The Qujiang Beautiful Economic Transportation Corridor project – for the Qujiang district of Quzhou city, in East China's Zhejiang province – was recently given a boost when important funding was reportedly secured.

At a tourism development conference in Qujiang, district officials signed a contract with the Zhejiang Branch of the China Development Bank and the project was granted a credit line worth 900 million yuan ($138.58 million), at low interest.

The project is understood to have a total investment of about 1.38 billion yuan and a total length of 534.7 kilometers.

It involves 22 towns and villages and will connect scenic spots – including the ancient mound tomb site of Mengjiang in Western Zhou Dynasty (c.11th century-771 BC), Old Duze Street, the Hema Digital Agriculture Demonstration Area, Lotus Village International Future Community historical and cultural villages and agricultural areas.

In addition, Qujiang north sports and leisure tourism area, central rural tourism belt and a southern forest health tourism area organically linked together.

The question has been posed locally about what should Quzhou do in the face of a new era, new challenges and new opportunities.

Through the newly released outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), China will formulate an action program for promoting common prosperity – and it is expected to support Zhejiang in its development and construction of a national demonstration area for common prosperity.

In response to the outline, Qujiang reportedly decided to move ahead with the construction, management, maintenance and operation of roads in rural areas – also known as the "four advantages in rural areas" project – and to plan the Qujiang Beautiful Economic and Transportation Corridor project.
