The prefecture-level city of Quzhou, located in East China's Zhejiang province, has established so-called future communities in its urban areas and future villages in its rural areas – innovative residential clusters which have been designed to achieve an eco-friendly and digitalized rural lifestyle.

It's the result of the metropolis ramping up efforts to advance its urban and rural integration to achieve common prosperity, according to local media reports published on Sept 8.

Future villages – new innovative residential clusters which follow an eco-friendly and digitalized rural lifestyle – are considered as having a key role in Quzhou's development as a common prosperity and four-province thoroughfare demonstration zone.

A future community – a term included in the provincial government report in 2019 – is an urban development project which aims at making cities more people-oriented, environmentally friendly, as well as more digitalized.

It is understood that the city will set up a total of 100 future villages. Meanwhile, the average growth rate for village collective income is projected to increase 58.3 percent over the same period, with a maximum growth rate of 75.5 percent.

In the meantime, another goal is that the sense of happiness, security and comfort of residents – as well as their sense of identity and sense of belonging – will also be boosted.

Moving forwards, the future villages and future communities are expected to become a demonstration model for common prosperity in Quzhou.
