Zhejiang wins national honor for rural development

Eleven places from East China's Zhejiang province were recently listed among the 11th batch of national demonstration towns or villages for characteristic industry development, according to a statement by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

For example, Anding village in Hangzhou's Fuyang district has achieved prosperity by growing Yunwu Tea.

The characteristic sector of Guzhu village in Huzhou's Changxing county is leisure tourism, while that for Lindai town in Jiaxing's Pinghu city is shrimp farming.

In addition, three towns from the province made China's list of towns which has a characteristic industry with an annual output value of at least 1 billion yuan ($153.8 million).

Ten villages from Zhejiang were also included in the nation's list of villages with a characteristic industry that has an annual output value of at least 100 million yuan.
