The paper used for the traditional art of Chinese calligraphy made in Longyou county, which is administered by Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, made its debut at the ongoing fourth China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, according to local media reports on Nov 5.

Brushes, ink, paper, and ink stones are known as the "essential four" of the traditional art of Chinese calligraphy. The paper has proven to be an eye-catching exhibit among calligraphy fans visiting the expo.

Longyou paper has a long history and boasts distinctive regional characteristics. It's used to make a rich variety of finished products, including scribbling paper, colored paper and special purpose paper. It is not only suitable for painting and calligraphy, but also widely used in packaging and decoration. In 2011, Longyou's paper-making technique was included in the third batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.

In addition, the paper is a star product of an all-round special purpose paper industry supply chain featuring more than 100 varieties of special purpose paper in Longyou. This has involved industries such as agriculture, decorations, food packaging and medical treatment – covering raw materials, equipment, chemicals, logistics, terminal sales, e-commerce and other complete upstream and downstream industry supply chains.
