With its goal of developing itself as a "demonstration city for good faith", the city of Quzhou – located in East China's Zhejiang province – has in recent years integrated a culture of integrity into its urban brand and the concept is said to have reached and resonated with residents.

Quzhou has promoted serving chopsticks and spoons since 2018 and a recent poll showed that more than 77 percent of locals said they employed the practice at home for each meal.

Additionally, since last August during the COVID-19 pandemic period, the authorities in Quzhou were promoting the use of public serving chopsticks and utensils to transfer food from a public plate to a guest's plate at restaurants.

Subsequently, the city's 1,589 administrative villages and communities have used chopsticks and spoons, a practice that was written into village regulations and adopted as community conventions.

More and more people have joined in the activity – cherishing food, eliminating waste, using serving chopsticks and undertaking civilized dining.

Diners in Quzhou are said to have widely expressed their support and willingness to join in the new-style of table manners that are being promoted.
