Kaihua Longding tea leaves in Kaihua county, Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, will be ready for picking on March 10, according to a press conference held on March 4.

In June 1985, Kaihua Longding tea leaves were designated a nationally famous tea by the Ministry of Commerce. In 1998, they successfully entered the German market.

The quality of new tea is better this year than in previous years, and the price of top-grade tea will be at least 5,200 yuan ($817.78) per kilogram.

Kaihua boasts an ideal tea production environment with excellent surface water and air quality year-round and is one of the five regions with the highest concentration of negative oxygen ions in the world.

There are currently more than 50,000 people engaged in the tea industry in Kaihua. In 2021, the county produced 3,221 metric tons of high-quality tea with an output value of 1.3 billion yuan.

In an evaluation of the public brand value of tea in China in 2021, the brand value of Kaihua Longding was measured at 2.91 billion yuan.
