Quzhou increases afforestation by 50,000 mu

Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province held a variety of activities to celebrate the 44th China Tree-Planting Day and help the city to improve its environment.

On March 9, volunteers planted more than 300 precious saplings in Sangyu village, Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, including camellia, cherry trees, podocarpus and willow trees.

During the event, more than 400 sweetgum were planted in Kecheng district, covering an area of 30 mu (2 hectares). Over 1,000 plants, including cherry blossoms and osmanthus were planted in Quanjinbian village, Houxi town in Qujiang district.

In addition, Longyou county has restored the environment of the Gaoping bridge reservoir through afforestation.

In 2021, more than 50,000 mu of forest was added, and the forest coverage rate ranked second in the province.

This year, the city plans to plant a total of 34,500 mu of trees to increase its forest carbon sink effect.
