The opening ceremony of the qualification trials and training of the Chinese Go team for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 was held in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province on April 12.

The Chinese Go team for the Games is expected to be finalized on April 22 after two rounds of competitions.

Go made its Asian Games debut at the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou in 2010. After 12 years, Go has once again become the official game of the sporting event.

The Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 Go competition has three competition categories - men's team, women's team and men's individual.

The Chinese Go team has over the past few years conducted selection trials and trained in a national team training facility in Quzhou.

The city said that it will use the Asian Games to further promote the development of Quzhou as "the world's Go mecca".
