The cultivated area of early rice in Quzhou, Zhejiang is expected to exceed 300,000 mu (20,000 hectares) this year, and the current sown area has already reached 150,300 mu, according to local media reports.

Agricultural machinery has been widely used in this year's spring ploughing, and a total of 5,398 sets of agricultural machinery have been put into use.

This year, the farm's rice plantation area measures about 2,200 mu, and more than 1,500 mu of rice transplanting has been carried out by rice transplanters. Remaining work will be completed within the next six days, said Zhang Zhonghai, owner of the Jiayuan family farm in Jiangshan county, Quzhou.

The cultivation capacity of rice seedlings has increased by 20 percent and the transplanting survival rate has achieved 95 percent.

"Last year, we planted 5,400 mu of early rice, earning 200 yuan ($29.93) in profit per mu," said Xu Guosong, a farmer in Qujiang district.
