​Quzhou's environment improves

The air and water quality of Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, has continued to improve over the past year, according to a recently released report.

Quzhou ranked 17th among in air quality among 168 cities in China for the first five months of 2022, local media reported on June 5.

The city's average PM2.5 concentration was 24 micrograms per cubic meter, a decrease of 7.69 percent year-on-year and far lower than the provincial average of 35 micrograms per cubic meter.

In addition, the proportion of days with good air quality in the city reached 95.6 percent, equal with the same period in 2021.

In 2021, the city's water quality ranked 21st among China's 338 prefecture-level cities. The water quality of all centralized drinking water sources in places above county level in the city reached Grade II, making it the first city in the province to achieve such a feat.

To improve the living environment for residents, the city has built 800 kilometers of greenways, and eight greenways have been rated as the most beautiful greenways in the province.
