Longyou county and Jiangshan city in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, were recently awarded 4.55 million yuan ($671,227) from the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs for implementing green, high-quality and efficient action in grain crops, local media reported on Aug 13.

Longyou county is a national commodity grain production base and a key rice production base in Zhejiang province. In 2021, the county's grain planting area reached 302,300 mu (20,153 hectares), with a total output of 123,100 metric tons.

The county was named a major grain production county in the province in 2020 and 2021.

In 2021, Jiangshan's grain planting area reached 367,800 mu, with a total grain output of 156,000 tons. The high yield of rice in the city has broken the provincial record for five consecutive years. The city has also been named a part of the province's "Hemudu Cup" grain production advanced unit for three consecutive years.

The green, high-quality and efficient action in grain crops aims to demonstrate agricultural achievements and promote technological integration and on-site training in order to drive the transformation and upgrading of the agricultural industry.
