As the only local government representative, Quzhou was invited to participate in the 2nd High-Level Forum on Joint Action to Promote Carbon Neutralization held in Beijing for its excellent achievements in promoting the low-carbon economy.

Representatives from the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, special agencies of the United Nations, Peking University and the world's top 500 companies, as well as diplomatic envoys to China, attended the forum.

At the forum, the Quzhou "carbon account" standard was issued.

The account is a digital processing tool based on data related to new energy consumption and carbon emissions analysis and is intended to help achieve peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality.

Quzhou has established different monitoring, accounting and evaluation methods according to different carbon source structures in seven major fields, including industry, energy, construction, transportation, agriculture, daily life, and forestry carbon sinks, and took the national lead in introducing seven local standards for carbon account accounting and evaluation.

Quzhou has currently established over 2.39 million carbon accounts covering industry, energy, agriculture, construction, transportation and residents. A total of 92,700 metric tons of standard coal was adjusted from 521 high-carbon enterprises to support 630 low-carbon enterprises, and a carbon emission reduction of 41,600 tons was realized in residents' lives.

"Quzhou has carried out a a thorough exploration of sustainable transformation and reform. I hope that Quzhou will continue to perform well in 'carbon account'," said Qiu Baoxing, former vice minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
