​Quzhou's foreign trade up 28.8% in Jan-Aug

Quzhou's import and export value totaled 39.03 billion yuan ($5.49 billion) from January to August, an increase of 28.8 percent over the same period last year, according to the Quzhou Customs.

Exports were 26.18 billion yuan, an increase of 38.1 percent year-on-year, the second highest growth rate in Zhejiang province, while imports expanded 13.3 percent to 12.85 billion yuan.

In the first eight months, the import and export value of foreign-funded enterprises in the city amounted to 5.19 billion yuan, a surge of 47.5 percent, while that of private enterprises reached 31.6 billion yuan, up 22.1 percent.

From January to August, the main export products such as mechanical and electrical products, basic organic chemicals, labor intensive products, pulp paper and its products and high-tech products were valued at 6.6 billion yuan, 3.51 billion yuan, 2.78 billion yuan, 2.3 billion yuan, and 1.78 billion yuan respectively.

Meanwhile, the import value of mechanical and electrical products and high-tech products stood at 1.41 billion yuan and 1.23 billion yuan, an increase of 10 percent and 16.4 percent, accounting for 11 percent and 9.6 percent of the city's total import value, respectively.

During the same period, the city's exports to South Korea, the European Union and the United States were valued at 4.65 billion yuan, 3.97 billion yuan and 3.73 billion yuan respectively, up 54.1 percent, 54.4 percent and 12.9 percent. Imports from ASEAN and Democratic Republic of Congo reached 4.16 billion yuan and 2.73 billion yuan, a significant increase of 400.2 percent and 62.1 percent respectively.

In addition, the trade with RCEP member countries and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative reached 13.98 billion yuan and 12.40 billion yuan, up 40.5 percent and 80.7 percent, accounting for 35.8 percent and 31.8 percent of the city's total import and export value, respectively.
