The revenue of the homestay and agritainment industry in Kecheng district, Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, reached nearly 100 million yuan ($14.05 million), and more than 1 million tourists visited the district in 2021.

The district is currently home to 307 homestays, six homestay complexes and six homestay clusters.

Homestays have revitalized vacant houses in rural areas and increased residents' incomes.

For example, Jiang Yutang, a resident in Huashu township, now can earn 4,000 yuan a month as a security guard and by growing vegetables at Yungu Yashe Homestay.

A total of eight villagers work as receptionists, house builders and cleaners at the homestay. Per capita income has increased by more than 3,000 yuan per month.

Quzhou Kecheng Culture and Tourism Development Co Ltd developed the six agricultural houses in Miaoyuan village into a homestay cluster, increasing the annual income of the village collective by 350,000 yuan.

In addition, to encourage the development of homestays, the local government has issued 10 million yuan in special funds every year to support the development of homestays, focusing on the construction of roads, parking lots, signs and other public service facilities in homestay clusters.
