The collective income of Gaohe village in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, exceeded 1 million yuan ($137,796) in 2021, including 500,000 yuan in operational income, thanks to the establishment of the Jinximanju Rural Hotel in the village.

The Jinximanju Rural Hotel was established as part of the initiative launched by the province in 2018 to raise all villages out of poverty.

With a total investment of 19 million yuan from pairing-assistance enterprises, construction started on the hotel at the end of 2019 and it officially opened on Sept 28 last year. It consists of five houses with unique features, covering an area of 3,764 square meters.

After more than a year since opening, the hotel has fully leveraged rural resources to attract visitors. Activities such as outdoor barbecuing, camping and fishing are available. This year's revenue is expected to reach 3 million yuan, said Tang Erlong, manager of the hotel.

In addition, the village has made full use of idle land to generate more wealth. In 2020, the village started planting small jujube. In 2021, freshwater fish breeding and Chinese herbal medicine cultivation were introduced. This year, the village started breeding bees and cultivating fruits and vegetables.
