A multimodal transport project in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, has been included in a national program aimed at improving logistics efficiency, according to an announcement released by the Ministry of Transport on Oct 8.

Three projects in the province made the list.

Connecting the provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Anhui and Fujian, the project is designed to serve as a logistics distribution center that may involve the use of road, rail and water transportation.

The project features a series of innovative measures, including promoting river-and-sea coordinated transport and water-rail intermodal transport, and launching a smart logistics platform, to secure the exports and supply chains of enterprises in the four provinces.

The project plays a significant role in attracting modern logistics enterprises, building a cross-border e-commerce pilot zone, and strengthening cooperation among port cities and inland cities, said a local official.

Thirteen berths have been put into operation so far and the construction of the second phase of the project will be completed by the end of 2023.
