A train loaded with exports such as wooden doors and hardware fittings produced in Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, departed from Jiangshan to Beilun Port station of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port on Dec 1. It was the first rail-sea intermodal transportation train to depart since the Jiangshan dry port special line opened.

The trains carried 50 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) weighing about 25 metric tons.

The special train is estimated to cost about 200 yuan ($28.7) less per case than road transport.

The train currently runs once a week, and the operation frequency will increase to twice a week in the first half of next year and once every other day in the second half of next year.

The train facilitates exports of production enterprises in the city and plays an important role in driving the economic development of surrounding areas.

In addition, multi-modal transportation such as highway-railway and rail-sea will be adopted in the future to facilitate cargo transportation and reduce logistics costs in Jiangshan and surrounding areas, helping industrial and manufacturing industries spread abroad.
