Majin town in Kaihua county, Quzhou, Zhejiang province is leveraging a reservoir project to develop related industries and improve the wellbeing of its residents.

Located at the source of the Qiantang River, the project will cost 4.55 billion yuan ($625.98 million) to build and aims to infuse new impetus into the town's economic growth, noted a local official.

Authorities are using the reservoir construction as a catalyst to enhance infrastructure, introduce new industries, bolster local employment, and upgrade the town's landscape. Four new roads have been completed, significantly improving travel conditions for residents.

Several industrial projects have commenced since January, including a facility to produce 70,000 metric tons of natural water annually, as well as a project to produce 10,000 sets of photovoltaic cells annually. These projects are expected to generate an annual output value of 380 million yuan and provide over 600 jobs.

An initiative to relocate three cultural relics has greatly enhanced the town's landscape and cultural atmosphere. Authorities are harnessing these advantages to bolster tourism.

Furthermore, the town conducts employment training and recruitment to help residents find jobs in the newly launched enterprises, ensuring that the local community benefits from the economic development.
