Yiwu in East China's Zhejiang province launched a new international shipping method using TIR trucks on March 30.

A total of nine trucks loaded with goods such as daily necessities and electronic products worth about 6.8 million yuan ($1.07 million) departed from Yiwu on March 30.

They will leave China from Baketu and Alashankou ports in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, pass through Kazakhstan, Russia, and Belarus, and arrive in the Netherlands, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and other European countries. The 13,000-kilometer trip will take about 18 days - with a door-to-door cost and delivery time that is competitive with both air and rail.

China has been a member of TIR, or Transports Internationaux Routiers, since 2016, which simplifies and streamlines administrative formalities for international road transport.

Supporting trade and development for more than 60 years, TIR has 73 contracting parties, most of which are located in important areas along the Silk Road Economic Belt and now have direct access to 27 countries in Eurasia.

Yiwu Landport Group has always been committed to building a comprehensive logistics supply chain service platform that facilitates the development of Yiwu trade. The group will work to develop the new shipping method to promote the high-quality and international development of Yiwu, according to officials.
