More than 40 teachers and students from 11 universities in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province and Shanghai visited Jiaxing on May 25, local media reported.

Jing Ying, vice-chairman of the Shanghai Municipal People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, said that she was pleased to see that the revolutionary sites in the two cities gathered expats in China together and that she was greatly impressed by the Red Boat spirit in Jiaxing.

Jing noted that in the future, the Shanghai association will further enhance friendship with people from other countries by organizing more exchange activities in this vein.

Jiaxing will carry out more international exchange activities and offer more comprehensive amenities for foreign friends in an effort to grow into an international exchange base, said Shen Wenping, director of the Jiaxing foreign affairs office.

During these expats' stay in Jiaxing, Ding Hongjun, former vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a speech about cultural exchanges and mutual learning between different cultures.

With its close geographical location, Jiaxing and Shanghai have always maintained close relations and the activity will be of great importance for Jiaxing to showcase itself globally.
